The Civic Museum is located in Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi and was founded in 1828. One of the oldest museums in the Veneto region, it has been housed since 1840 in the former Franciscan friars' convent. It currently houses the world's largest collection of works by the master Jacopo Da Ponte, supplemented by extensive documentation of the activities of his workshop. There is also a section dedicated to Antonio Canova, which contains 3,000 autograph drawings, his correspondence, library, sketches, numerous plaster casts and the unique series of monochromes that the great critics have defined as the maximum outcome of his artistic expressiveness. Since 2014, the Civic Museum has been able to count on the new Civic Gallery for temporary exhibitions as well as a specific area for museum education.
